G.This study aims to discuss the ecological and green design concepts in interior spaces. The role and the contribution of interior spaces and interior architecture to the ecological and green design will be output. Ecological and green design implementations will be figured out in the built environments. Contribution of interior architecture and interior design of the buildings to those concepts will be discussed. Energy and emissions in interior spaces with lighting, ventilation, air conditioning thermal comfort, insulation and interior design material, material selections, material applications and surface treatments systems in interiors will be introduced and their contribution to the building sector from ecological and green design approach will be discussed.Article Citation - WoS: 7Effect on Users of the Seating Element Types in Cafes/Restaurants(Gazi Univ, 2017) Ayalp, Nur; Yıldırım, Kemal; Çağatay, KubülayIn this study, the impact of different seating unit types on subjects' perceptional evaluation of cafe/restaurant environments has been examined. The scopes for assessment were being ergonomic, privacy and perceptual preferences. The data for this research were obtained from students' ratings of digital pictures for two hypothetical cafes/restaurants. These spaces were prepared exactly the same. The only differences were that one space was furnished with chairs and the other was furnished with booths. Each dining environment was tested by using bipolar scales. Results indicated that cafes/restaurants furnished with booths were considered to be more ergonomic, private, comfortable and less crowded than the cafes/restaurants furnished with chairs. Furthermore, gender differences in evaluation were also examined. Due to the gender differences, findings showed that female subjects perceived cafes/restaurants furnished with booths more positively than male subjects. Additionally, their preferences for seating locations in cafes/restaurants were also different.Article A Myth? GünerThe concept of social sustainability should be considered and investigated in developing the conditions of traditional urban spaces. Sustainable tourism can be a basic tool for the physical conservation of architectural heritage. The traditional spaces regain considerable visual and economical value with tourism investments but the social reactions are to the contrary. In the content of the study, two different characteristically spaces were selected in the city of Ankara. The selected urban core was composed of 19th century Ottoman dwellings called "Hamamonu" which have not been considered for a long time. The local municipality developed a project to rehabilitate a part of this area with the help of tourism and left the other part untouched "Hamamarkasi". Social, physical and spatial aspects will be questioned and the opinions of respondents will be output about the rehabilitation project. © 2011 WIT Press.Article Sustainability of an Interior Space as a Cultural Heritage(WITPress, 2013) Ayalp, Nur; Bozdayı, A. M.This study aims to develop a design model for sustainability of cultural setting, including its tangible and intangible components. The study focuses on the interior environment of traditional Turkish coffeehouse interiors as a case. This study introduces the Turkish coffeehouse interior space as cultural heritage. It describes both the historic social importance of the coffeehouse as well as the physical characteristics of a typical coffeehouse and proposes to engage people in a design process to recreate the Turkish coffeehouse's interior space. From an interior architectural perspective, the study sets typical features of the coffeehouse and aims to discuss the dimensions to sustain this cultural setting in today's living conditions. © 2013 WIT Press.Article Türkiye’deki Mülteci Kamplarında Tasarım Kriterleri: Adana Sarıçam Konaklama Merkezi(2021) Şenocak, GülşahMültecilik ve barınma sorunu evrensel doğrusu olmayan çok katmanlı, disiplinler arası bir konudur. Dünya genelinde yaşanan acil durumlar geçici afet barınaklarını ön plana çıkarmıştır. Zorunluluktan doğan geçici barınaklarda yaşanabilirliği sağlamak İç Mimarlık disiplininin başlıca çalışma alanlarından olmalıdır. 2011 senesinden beri süregelen göç dalgaları nedeniyle mülteci kampları ve geçici afet barınakları Türkiye için öncelikli hale gelmiştir. Bu kapsamda ülkemizde en çok mülteci barındıran ve en geniş kamp olan Adana Sarıçam Konaklama Merkezi ele alınmış, uluslararası standartlara göre değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı ülkemizde bulunan yerleşkelerdeki mevcut durumu ortaya koyarak, kamp tasarımında standartların geliştirilmesine yardımcı olmak adına kaynak oluşturmaktır.
