Alvar Aalto: Villa Mairea's Interior Design Analysis

Abstract

Alvar Aalto, with his unique designs, is one of the greatest architect in the field of architectural history. Firstly, this study analyses the professional profile of Alvar Aalto. During this analysis, the study aims to discuss the Alto's work with in the era of Modernism Period. The analysis resulted with the definition of architectural elements that identified the Alto's works. In the last part of the study the Villa Mairea, one of the house project of Alto, is introduced. Villa Mairea project is analyzed both with its exterior and interior formation. The study is deeply focused on the Aalto's approach to the interior of the building. The main aim of this study is to set the Alto's work as an example for contemporary designers.
