Book Part Differentiating Diversity Consciousness from Pro-diversity Attitude(Springer Nature Switzerland, 2024) Varoğlu, Demet[No Abstract Available]Article Effects of situational and structural factors on co-creation in retail stores(Middle East Technical University, 2024) Tarı Kasnakoğlu, Berna; Kalender, Yunus; Doğan, VolkanThis paper focuses on the dialogical components of a service relationship and their effects on co-creation. We attempt to investigate the effects of one situational variable (partner’s perceptions of the other partner’s resources) and one non-situational variable (store brand perceptions) on co-creative behavior. To test the proposed model, dyadic survey data of 364 pairs was collected in retail stores where one customer and one salesperson interacted in a sales exchange. Data were analyzed using the structural equation modeling technique. Results support that store brand perceptions, directly and indirectly, increase co-creation through the perceptions of the partners’ resources.Conference Object İkinci El Çevrimiçi Müşteri Ve Satıcı Etkileşimi(Beta Basım Yayım Dağıtım A.Ş., 2024) Tor, Emine Zehra; Kalender, Yunus; Bengisu Bilici, Gökçen; Tarı Kasnakoğlu, BernaBu çalışmanın amacı, çevrimiçi ikinci el alışverişte, müşteri etkileşimini sağlayan faktörlerle ilgili keşifsel bir analiz yapmayı amaçlamaktadır. Conference Object Symbolic Self Completion As A Mediator Between Nicotine Dependence And Quit Intention: Evidence From A Nationally Representative Survey(The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), 2024) Tarı Kasnakoğlu, Berna; Caner, AsenaThis study aims to investigate the relationship between nicotine dependence and quit intentions, and the degree to which symbolic completion of the self through smoking mediates this relationship. This study adopted a cross-sectional methodology using a population-based sample of cigarette smokers residing in Turkey. A survey was designed to measure nicotine dependence (using the heaviness of smoking index), intention to quit smoking, and the absence of symbolic self-completion. Mediation analysis was conducted using the Hayes model #4 to investigate the degree to which self-symbolizing smoking is implicated in the association between dependence and quit intention. Based on results, nicotine dependence is found to decrease the intention to quit (coefficient=-0,0198; p-value<0,000), while an absence of symbolic self-completion is found to increase quit intentions (coefficient=0,6118; p-value<0,000). Symbolic self-completion is found to be a significant (partial) mediator between dependence and quit intentions. Also, dependence is found to increase the symbolic attachment. The overall conclusion is that smoking is an activity that is publicly noticeable, thereby serving as a symbol of the self. The symbolic power of smoking should be considered along with physical dependence as one of the major barriers to quit smoking.Conference Object Smoking and Vaping among Young Adults: A Survey Experiment in Turkiye(Western Economic Associatıon Internatıonal (WEAI), 2024) Yiğit, Yenal Can; Caner, Asena; Turan, Belgi; Tarı Kasnakoğlu, Berna; Mathios, Alan D.; Kenkel, Donald S.[No Abstract Available]Article “Tütünsüz Nesil” Önerisi: Dikkate Alınmaya Değer(2024) Caner, Asena; Mermer, Bilge Nur; Tarı Kasnakoğlu, Berna; Turan, Belgi; Yiğit, Yenal Can[No Abstract Available]Article Assessing the Impact of Terrorist Attacks on Sovereign Risk Perception: Evidence from Turkey's CDS Market(Prague Univ Economics And Business, 2024) Demirhan, Ecem; Tokat, Ekin; Tokat, Hakki ArdaThis study investigates the impact of terrorism on financial markets, focusing specifically on Turkey's sovereign Credit Default Swap (CDS) premiums from 2011 to 2017 - period characterized by frequent and diverse terrorist activities. Employing an EGARCH model with dummy variables for various terrorist groups, we analyze immediate and short-term market reactions across different event windows. Our findings reveal significant volatility in CDS premiums following terrorist incidents, with market responses varying depending on the terrorist group perpetrating the incident. This study enhances the understanding of capital market reactions on terrorist events through CDS instruments, highlighting their role in assessing sovereign credit and country risk.Article Institutional Complexity and Consumer Wellbeing: Navigating the Conflicting Logics of Religion, State, and Market During the Covid-19 Pandemic(SAGE Publications Ltd, 2025) Sandikci, O.; Tarı Kasnakoğlu, B.; Omeraki Çekirdekci, Ş.Institutional complexity arises when multiple institutional logics prescribe divergent and incompatible behaviors. Studies show that exposure to contradictory prescriptions of multiple logics may trigger identity tensions, strategic challenges, and legitimacy problems. We add to this research stream by exploring the implications of the incompatibility between religion and other logics on consumer wellbeing. Extant research reports a generally positive effect of religion on wellbeing but limits the analytical attention to the individual effects of religiosity. Viewing religion as part of an inter-institutional system, we seek to understand why religion and other institutional logics might come into a conflictual relationship with each other and destabilize wellbeing. We find that critical events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, change the relative centrality of logics and prompt individuals to engage in incompatible behaviors. We also discuss how consumers manage the sudden and unexpected institutional complexity they face and seek to restore their wellbeing. © The Author(s) 2024.Book Part İk Analitiği: Yazılımcı Bulma ve Elde Tutma Meselesi(Beta, 2022) Varoğlu, Demet[No Abstract Available]Book Part Satın Alma ve Birleşme: “adi Ortaklık” Sorunu(Beta, 2022) Varoğlu, Demet; Kanlıoğlu, Ece[No Abstract Available]Book Part İşgöreni Elde Tutma: Etüt Koleji’nde İnsan Kaynakları Meseleleri(Beta, 2022) Varoğlu, Demet; Kanlıoğlu, Ece[No Abstract Available]Book Part Uyumlandırma: Kaza Geliyorum Der Mi?(Beta, 2022) Varoğlu, Demet; Kanlıoğlu, Ece[No Abstract Available]Book Part İşgöreni Elde Tutma: Satış Danışmanlığından Öte(Beta, 2022) Varoğlu, Demet; Kanlıoğlu, Ece[No Abstract Available]Book Part Uyumlandırma: Uyumlandırma (intibak) Programı Bir Ticaret Odasında Stajyerler için de Gerekmez Mi?!(Beta, 2022) Varoğlu, Demet; Kanlıoğlu, Ece[No Abstract Available]Book Part Kariyer Yönetimi: Sorun Sadece Diploma Mı?!(Beta, 2022) Varoğlu, Demet; Kanlıoğlu, Ece[No Abstract Available]Book Part Citation - Scopus: 3Generation Z in Turkey: a Generation With High Hopes and Big Fears(Emerald Publishing Limited, 2020) Tarı Kasnakoğlu, Berna; Türe, Meltem; Kalender, YunusThis chapter provides fresh insight into the lives of Generation Z in Turkey, who are described as the generation born after 1995. The chapter uses secondary information harvested from academic and popular literature, and national statistics. In addition, results from a quantitative survey conducted among 237 Generation Z members in Turkey and insights gathered from a qualitative study based on semi-structured interviews performed with 12 individuals from Generation Z have been utilised. Understanding Generation Z in Turkey is challenging because the effects of fast digitalisation, cultural globalisation, and new challenges in attaining high-quality education and finding good jobs are not yet fully known. This chapter offers insights on Turkish Generation Z, including but not limited to their (1) future-orientation, (2) multipolarity of selves, (3) identity as consumers, and (4) perceived challenges regarding future work life.Book Management and Organizational Studies on Blue & Grey Collar Workers: Diversity of Collars(Emerald Publishing Limited, 2023) Paliszkiewicz, Joanna; Varoğlu, DemetThe digital transformation of work during the COVID-19 pandemic seemed in many ways a fair treaty between employers and employees. However, realistically, its advantages have primarily benefitted white-collar workers with the ability to work from home, excluding a significant proportion of the global workforce, those responsible for providing fresh water, environmental hygiene, transportation, electricity, healthcare and food and security services, who do not have the option of conducting their jobs remotely. The pandemic has thus deepened the gap between white and blue and grey collar workers. Combining both theoretical and empirical studies, Management and Organizational Studies on Blue and Grey Collar Workers focuses on recent issues such as digitalization and migration and their implications for organizational commitment, HRM functions and strategic management processes. Acting as an examination of the changing nature of power between blue and grey collar workers and institutional hierarchies in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, contributors foreground the importance of these roles as a cornerstone for the competitive power of industries and nations, as well as basic global infrastructure, both now and in future. Highlighting the workers who provide the essential services, maintenance and manufactured goods that power the global economy, Management and Organizational Studies on Blue and Grey Collar Workers supplies essential knowledge on an often overlooked workforce for a variety of disciplines, including human resource management, industrial relations, social psychology, labor economics, gender studies, political science, union studies and health care management.Book Genel İşletmecilik Bilgileri(Siyasal Kitabevi, 2023) Tuncer, Doğan; Ayhan, Doğan Yaşar; Varoğlu, Demet; Ilgaz Sümer, Selay[No Abstract Available]Book Genel İşletmecilik Bilgileri(Siyasal Kitabevi, 2022) Tuncer, Doğan; Ayhan, Doğan Yaşar; Varoğlu, Demet; Ilgaz Sümer, Selay[No Abstract Available]Book Part Araştırma ve Yayın Etiği(Nobel Tıp Kitabevleri, 2023) Tarı Kasnakoğlu, Berna[No Abstract Available]
